I am a DONA-certified doula with a passion for healthy, calm childbirth. I love empowering women and couples towards the positive birth experience they're hoping to have, whether in a hospital, a birth center, or at home. I enjoy working with all kinds of medical professionals, and prioritize flexible communication through the whole birth experience.
background
I grew up in Downeast Maine, and learned early to appreciate the power of hard work and positivity. I went to school for music and theology, and live with a focus on art, beauty, and joy. I enjoy spending time on the ocean, playing the piano, journaling obsessively, bringing flowers indoors, going for walks with friends, burning candles, waking up early, organizing events, and reading eclectically. I'm an ISFJ (if you're into Meyers-Briggs), a Type 1 (if you're an Enneagram fan), and tend to have deep conversations at the grocery store. I survived all of college without coffee, and somehow gained an appreciation afterwards.
Training & certification
I took my first doula class at Birthwise Midwifery School in 2015 in Bridgeton, Maine, at Birthwise Midwifery School. I received my international certification from DONA (Doulas of North America). I've taken courses in Maine and New York on childbirth and breastfeeding, and worked for several years in pre-hospital emergency medicine. I maintain current CPR certification. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in the spring of 2018 from Houghton College, and with my Master’s in December 2020 from the Greatbatch School of Music. I completed a research paper in 2019 entitled “Music & Childbirth: The Power of Artistic Expression and Time-Honored Tradition in Labor.”
